VOOR IN DIE KOOR: Wie is hierdie God?
CHRIS CHAMELEON - 23/12/2007 10:51:13 PM - (SA)

WIE is hierdie God van wie julle so praat?

skaapwagters flenters blaas? Wie is hierdie God wat altyd wyser
is, altyd beter weet?

verag?

Wie is hierdie God in wie se naam daar jare lank onderdruk

liefde verraai . . . Sy grootste gawe so dikwels verwronge

Hoveldoggend bestel? Wat elke sekonde van die Karoo se
vreedsaamheid, enige tyd, daagliks, getrou toesien?

gee? Wat die kinders so laat lag? En wat weet wanneer die
voltjies by die bak gaan kom sit?

Want hierdie God ontwyk alle definisie of bewoording.
Hy word genoem God, Allah, chaos, oerknal, toeval, Sy, Shiva,
ensovoorts, maar is altyd minder of mr as wat ges of gedink

As iemand s God
denke kry. As iemand vir my s God haat dit of dat, wonder ek
As iemand vir my s God

Ek betwyfel
nie die grensloosheid van Sy genade nie.

En ten slotte: As jy vir my kan s wie hierdie God is, dan weet ek
dit is beslis nie Hy nie.

PostSubject: Job 1   Sun Dec 30, 2007 4:10 pm

Prologue

1 In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. 2 He had seven sons and three daughters, 3
and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred
yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of
servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East. 4
His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they
would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. 5
When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have
them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering
for each of them, thinking, "Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed
God in their hearts." This was Job's regular custom. Job's First Test

6 One day the angels [a] came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan [b] also came with them. 7 The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?"
Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it." 8
Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There
is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who
fears God and shuns evil." 9 "Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied. 10
"Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything
he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and
herds are spread throughout the land. 11 But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face."

12 The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger."

18 While he was still
speaking, yet another messenger came and said, "Your sons and daughters
were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house, 19
when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the
four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are dead, and
I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"

20 At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21 and said:
"Naked I came from my mother's womb,
and naked I will depart. [c]
The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away;
may the name of the LORD be praised."

22 In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.

you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason." (Satan means accuser )

4 "Skin for skin!" Satan replied. "A man will give all he has for his own life. 5 But stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face."

7 So Satan went out from
the presence of the LORD and afflicted Job with painful sores from the
soles of his feet to the top of his head. 8 Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes. 9 His wife said to him, "Are you still holding on to your integrity? Curse God and die!" 10 He replied, "You are talking like a foolish [b] woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?"
In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.

Job 41:1-34 God sets out Who He is and proclaims His sovereignty as also
His mercy

1 "Can you pull in the
leviathan [a] with a fishhook

or tie down his tongue with a
rope?

2 Can you put a cord through his
nose

or pierce his jaw with a hook?

3 Will he keep begging you for
mercy?

Will he speak to you with
gentle words?

4 Will he make an agreement with you

for you to take him as your
slave for life?

Quote :
If you lay a hand on him,

you will remember the struggle
and never do it again!

9 Any hope of subduing him is false;

the mere sight of him is
overpowering.

10 No one is fierce enough to rouse
him.

Who then is able to stand
against me?

11 Who has a claim against me that I
must pay?

Everything under heaven
belongs to me.

Job 42

Job

1 Then Job replied to the LORD : 2 "I know that you can do all things;
no plan of yours can be thwarted. 3 You asked, 'Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?'
Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me to know. 4 "You said, 'Listen now, and I will speak;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.' 5 My ears had heard of you
but now my eyes have seen you. 6 Therefore I despise myself
and repent in dust and ashes."

PostSubject: The aweaome God - His mercy   Sun Dec 30, 2007 6:13 pm

In this the Epilogue , Job 42:7-14 , God shows His mercy to those who ill-advised Job ...

7 After
the LORD had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite,
"I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken
of me what is right, as my servant Job has. 8
So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and
sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for
you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to
your folly. You have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job
has." 9 So Eliphaz the
Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite did what the
LORD told them; and the LORD accepted Job's prayer.
